Fall 2019/Spring 2020 Registration is opened!

Good Afternoon Parents & Volunteers,

I would like to officially announce 2019 Fall & 2020 Spring Player Registration is now OPEN! That being said, a couple of things to cover. I stated "player registration" that is because the volunteer registration portion is going to come later. AYSO National has raised the player fee, we were expecting that. They are requiring regions to now cover the cost of the background check for every AYSO volunteer and again we were expecting that. That being said, the price to play soccer in Byron Center did not change this year.

Speaking of the background checks, AYSO is not ready to roll out the volunteer functionality yet for next season, so, while we can sign up kids, we can't sign up as volunteers yet. I will announce when that is possible at a later date. Until then, sit tight... I know there are a lot of eager parents willing to help transform this program from just another recreational sports league.

Wait list
We set up the system to create only 2 teams at this point. The rest will be placed on a wait list. As we get volunteers, we will pull kids from the wait list. You will not be charged until you are pulled from the wait list. We will pull first come first served unless a parent decides to volunteer. Consider that an AYSO fast pass when it comes to registration. So if there are 30+ kids on the wait list, and you say, I'll coach or referee, you will skip ahead.

***10U Players & above*****
We will require one parent on each team assembled to be a certified referee. Once we have a referee & a coach for the next set of teams, we will then take the next kids off the wait list. If we have a certified referee with each team, it makes it much easier for us to 3 man crew a game. We are working on getting youth referees in as well so the parent would not be required to ref every game, but we need the coverage this makes our job easier finding referees to cover these games.

14U Parents - Please see the description associated with your programs. It addresses the season issues with middle school soccer. Please be aware we will do our best to get a full season.

Jerseys - If you notice, we are not asking for jersey sizes this year. We tried to cater specific sizing for each player. After that costly experiment we will go back to our original system of ordering. No system is perfect, but the cost & time spent replacing jerseys this year cost us a board member, 3 peoples sanity & at least an extra 10 lbs of weight. We are all for trying to cater as much as possible, but this was a very expensive experiment to try out. Thanks for your understanding.

Summer Soccer - I have mentioned this before and I have had a chance to talk to the board. Summer soccer is coming! I need help from current volunteers to make it happen though. It will be on a weekday night during the week. I know families have vacations and such... so do I, but we are going to put a plan together to get kids to the fields during the week to get some exercise, hang with friends and have some fun.

The crazy idea? It's open to EVERYONE! If you have one child playing club soccer & another child is playing AYSO, COOL, bring'em all! You have a neighbor who's kid has never played? SWEET! Invite them! We will try and do different things to offer a variety. World cup night, golden goal 3v3/4v4, clinic night, etc. I'll send out an email to registered volunteers for this season as well as next to get coverage. Expect dates in the next weeks to be announced.
